pre-Conceive improves key fertility and nutritional parameters

in My Fertility Specialist, May-July 2016

Mark Whitney is the expert behind pre-Conceive from Pillar Healthcare in Ireland. pre-Conceive is a blend of nutrients that have all been studied for their impact on fertility and increasing fertility in both men and women. pre-Conceive is formulated to supply the therapeutic dose (i.e. most beneficial) of nutrients in one easily consumed sachet.

More than eight out of 10 Irish men showed improvements in their sperm motility and also reduced cellular damage to their sperm. The clinical study is Europe’s first ever examination of a nutritional supplement and the effect on both male and female fertility parameters…

Exercising for Fertility: The do’s and don’ts

Exercising for fertility

in My Fertility Specialist, May-July 2016

Exercise… We all know how important a good level of activity is. We know that exercise and physical activity can help with your heart, your lungs, your weight, your mentality, immunity and more or less every system in the body – including your fertility.

Weight Gain – Your body works on a very simple mathematical solution – calories consumed less calories expended equals weight gain or weight loss. In the UK the NHS suggests a man needs around 2,500Kcal a day to maintain his weight; for a woman, that figure is around 2,000Kcal a day. To put it simply, if I as a man ate 2,500Kcals a day, I need to ‘burn’ 2,501Kcals a day to lose weight. Weight loss is a two pronged approach; first, keep an eye on the calories being consumed and second, maximising calorie expenditure.

Exercise – We are all busy and rarely have enough time in the day. Free time is limited or non-existent. Sadly, these excuses will not wash when it comes to your health and fertility. I often break exercise into three categories…

Boosting Fertility

Boosting Fertility

in Natural Pharmacy Business, March 2016

Over the past 20 years, fertility problems have increased dramatically. One in six couples now find it difficult to conceive and a quarter of all pregnancies can end in a miscarriage and more and more couples are turning to fertility treatments to help them have a family. Mark Whitney looks at the probable causes, and how to boost fertility naturally.

Infertility is a disease, usually of the reproductive system, defined by the failure to achieve a clinical pregnancy after 12 months or more, of regular unprotected sexual intercourse.

Infertility can be categorised as primary infertility or secondary infertility. Primary infertility is defined as a couple who have never had a pregnancy. Secondary infertility describes a couple who are having trouble conceiving again, even though they have previously achieved pregnancy.

There are many fertility conditions, both common and uncommon, that make it difficult for a couple to conceive. Presenting cases of infertility are broken down into thirds. One third of all cases will be female related, one third is male related and one third is defined as ‘unexplained infertility’. Unexplained infertility is so named as its causes remain unknown even after an infertility work-up…

BMI & Fertility Treatment – A NHS requirement & does it improve your chances?

BMI and Fertility Treatment

in My Fertility Specialist, Feb-Apr 2016

My Fertility Specialist Magazine is delighted to bring you a regular column on Nutrition and Fitness for Fertility – for both men and women, by Mark Whitney and Gareth Zeal, both experts in the field of nutrition.

We all know that obesity can lead to long-term chronic health problems, but did you know that it may also lead to infertility? With regards to the NHS and fertility treatment, the right Body Mass Index (BMI) is a requirement to get access to treatment. The NHS requires a BMI figure between 19 and 24. The BMI is a number calculated from height and weight that is used to determine whether a person is underweight, normal weight, overweight, or obese.

Research has shown, not only a link between obesity and anovulation (when eggs are not released from the ovaries), but there is an infertility risk for obese women – even if they ovulate regularly…

A landmark study has found that nutritional supplements can have a significant and positive impact upon male fertility.

The research – the first ever clinical study of its kind in Europe – found that more than eight out of 10 Irish men showed improvements in sperm motility, and signs of reduced cell damage in sperm, after using the pre-Conceive supplement.

Progressive motility, which measures the sperm cells swimming in the right direction, was found to have greatly improved when the supplement was taken over a 90-day period.

Carried out by Wexford-based nutritional supplement manufacturers, Pillar Healthcare, and fertility experts ReproMed Ireland, the study looked at the effect of the pre-Conceive supplement on both male and female fertility.

Infertility affects one in seven couples in Britain, we’re not far behind in Ireland

Practical Parenting with Alison Canavan

by Alison Canavan
The Daily Mail, 12 March 2015

I turned 37 last week and I’m at a time in my life where most of my friends are either having children or trying really hard to have children.

Infertility now affects one in seven couples in Britain and I imagine we are not far behind here in Ireland. There are so many factors that affect our fertility, including elements that we have no control over, like toxic chemicals in the air, food, water and cosmetics we use.

What we do have control over is our lifestyle, and we now know that what we eat has a profound influence on our health and, indeed, our quality of life. The saying ‘from womb to tomb’ really does ring true for me, buy maybe in this case we should bring it back even further and focus on prospective parents’ health before conception? […]

The reproductive system does need specific nutrients though, which is why a recent pilot study into a natural nutrient supplement called pre-Conceive is so exciting. It showed improvements in key fertility parameters for both men and women…
